I used to play this game like 20 years ago since I'm Korean and haven't played it

like almost two decades lol and oh my god is it ever different.

My question is what type of equipment should I go for and how do I get it?

I played my elf a few hours and already got to 37 which is amazing!

Int elf would be the fastest leveling. Gather in Giran Prison and fireball for fastest xp.

Assuming you're int elf, Thebes bow would be best. Dex elf kaiser bow would be your first option

Gloves, Assassin king or Gloves of Lizardman Hero first goal

Boots, Dread King boots first goal

Cloak, Silver Cloak first goal, also Cloak of Invisibility

T-shirt, if you have the opportunity, Int T-shirt or Dex T-shirt

Helm, Helm of Magic Resistance, Bless of Elm good for dex

Armor, Ancient Leather Armor first goal

If using bow, Ancient Archer Guarder gives 80hp +1 bow dmg, good option

Rings, 10%, Elemental rings, KG rings are good for regen

Belt, Shining Belt of Mind/Body, Ogre belt good

Necklace, Int/Dex ammy, Amulet of Blue/Green Curse + Earrings of Purification give + int/dex

Earrings, Karma earrings you get from leveling in Land of the Ancients karma and turning in Fragments of Soul Stone to opposite karma faction

Budget version of gear 

Weapon: Ancient Bowgun(lvl 45) + Elven Shield(gives MR for elves), High enchanted hunter bow ( drops in FV so easy to get for enchanting)

Gloves, New king gloves/bracer

Boots, Boots of the new king 

Cloak, Elven cloak ( gives regen when over weight) 

T-shirt, Elven shirt 

Helm,  Bless of Elm /Helm of the new king

Armor, Ancient Leather Armor ( requires 45) Starter gear nice until then

If using bow, Ancient Archer Guarder gives 80hp +1 bow dmg, ( can be costly but +0 still decent) 

Rings, 10%, Elemental rings, KG rings are good for regen ( since you can only wear 2 rings id say just focus on 2kgs  

Belt, Belt of Mind/Body (doesn't have to be shining but is pretty easy to craft if you want to invest time)

Necklace, Int/Dex ammy, 

Earrings, Ice queen earrings dex or int (from players) or karma once you invest time
